Vampire: The Masquerade is a series of tabletop games. Here the players play as Vampires instead of Vampire killers in regular Vampire games. Recently this became a talking point as its game developer announced a surprising move. Paradox Interactive announced that the fans of their game universe can produce similar games. Furthermore, they also allowed them to monetize games. Here are the latest updates regarding this unique move by Paradox.
Vampire: The Masquerade Games
Vampire: The Masquerade was first developed by an American individual game designer Mark Rein-Hagen in 1991. Initially, it was released by White Wolf Publishing as a tabletop game. Also, it comes under the World of Darkness universe created by the same publisher. It was an instant success as many loved the new idea of the game. Later White Wolf decided to create a series of online games to take the game to next level.
But, in 2015, Swedish gaming giant Paradox Interactive purchased White Wolf Publishing. With this move, Paradox gained access to World of Darkness and Vampire universe games. Moreover, the company used the popularity of these franchises and released many online games with the most recent being Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt.
Paradox Latest Move
In early 2022, Paradox surprised its fans with an unexpected announcement. The company started a program called Unbound. This aims to support indie game designers across the world. With this program, fans of Vampire: The Masquerade can make games similar to Paradox’s game. However, these new games should be set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe. Also, Paradox mentioned that these games should not have words from the two universes.

After designing their games, the developers should submit them to Paradox. After the review by the company, developers can publish their games and can monetize them. Other than this, developers can also use their gaming content in various ways. These include streaming their games on Twitch and Youtube. This is a welcome move as it uplifts many budding game designers.
