Splatoon 2 Octo, a third-person shooter video game that was released on June 13, 2018. It is an elaboration pack to the single-player mode of Splatoon 2 and received positive reviews from people. The player’s control Octoling is named Agent 8 and should complete the given tasks. They have four particular objects which are called thangs. The game has similar mechanics as Splatoon 2.

The producer, Hisashi Nogami, wanted to develop the game so that players may get to explore more of the series’ world. But at first, they thought it would be shocking to show up Octolings in a role without an explanation. They decided to show darker settings in the game so that they could get a feel about a world that is not bright and colorful. They designed the game such that it gives us an older vibe, dated aesthetic, featuring personalities with bygone slang. The character in this game is different compared to the character that lived in the world of Splatoon and Splatoon 2. They showed a variation between Octoling and Inkling’s culture. And for the first time, they let the player take control of an Octoling, it players also got more idea about Pearl and Marina.

It is developed from the base of Splatoon 2 and it has a total of 150 levels, which is pared down to 80. Seita Inoue created a 30-page manga on the final level; this idea was given by the director of the game which he wanted to do from Splatoon. They also installed the CQ point system so that the players have more choice.
On March 8, 2018, in a Nintendo Direct broadcast, they announced the details on the Expansion of Octo. The players control an Octoling which is formerly an evil Octarians called Agent 8 and it was released on June 13, 2018. The player has to escape from a cavernous tunnel system without their memories. If the player crosses the expansion level, then the Octolings can play in online matches. On December 7, 2018, they released a new feature.
